During tissue repair, we lay down an uneven matrix of skin cells called fibroblasts that can run quite deep below the skin.  Scars can cause people to feel self-conscious depending on the location and quality.  Keloids are a type of scar that causes excessive tissue to be laid down.  Acupuncture has been used with excellent results to treat scars from surgery, trauma, tummy tucks, skin removal surgeries, and burns.
