Fibrocystic Breasts

Fibrocystic breast syndrome is a painful condition of the breasts that make the breasts feel lumpy and tender to touch.  Although not malignant, fibrocystic breasts can be a risk factor for breast cancer.  Hormonally dictated, fibrocystic breasts usually get worse right before and during menstruation and wane after menses.  Fibrocystic breasts are commonly treated with traditional Chinese medicine.  Modification of lifestyle, like eliminating caffeine consumption, also plays a role in successful management of the syndrome.
